Camp Candy
TV-Y NBC 30m 1989
Television series in which the Canadian comedian John Candy voices an animated version of him. The fictionalized version of Candy is operating a financially-struggling summer camp, and he has to put some effort to resolve its problems. Candy is depicted as level-headed and witty, but unusually clumsy. His frequent injuries are one of the series' running gags. Candy's right-hand-woman and love interest is Nurse Molly Lange. She is good at her job and eager to treat any medical problem. She fancies herself to be an innovative cook, but anything she creates is inedible. The series' main villain is the property developer Rex DeForest, Jr. Years ago, he made a deal which allowed the summer camp to be built on his land. Now he wants to regain control of the land, and he keeps trying to sabotage the camp. Rex employs the henchman Chester, a 1950s-style greaser, to advance his plans. Chester is actually less malicious than his boss, and neither competent nor enthusiastic about his assigned duties.
