Aka ep1.1 Noni and John make a vegetable soup with potatoes, capsicum, carrot and celery. John sings 'One Potato, Two Potato', then Noni boils the water and adds the vegetables. John uses the vegetable scraps to print red and green paint onto paper. An animation is shown of a person watching a bear on television. Noni sings 'On TV'. John explores different shot sizes with the studio camera, first showing his feet and then having the camera operator Bronwyn zoom out. John and Brownwyn play a game where Brownyn has to find John with the camera while he moves in and out of frame. We watch through the monitor. Noni makes a TV show with Humpty using a box on a pram as the camera. She draws individual shots on pieces of paper pretending they are the monitor screen. John and Noni sing 'How do you feel today?'. Underneath the flower clock there are wooden farm animals followed by Noni reading the birthday party section of the book 'Little Bear' by Else Holmelund and illustrated by Marice Sendak. John sings 'Happy Birthday to You' and makes a pretend birthday soup with sponge and wool ball vegetables as well as a door snake 'sausage'. Through the round window a Quantal Paintbox computer to create the calendar for the week. The presenters look at the calendar animation created on the Paintbox. They try the soup, which John suggests may have needed to be cooked for longer as it is flavourless. He offers the door snake 'sausage' to Noni, who tells him to 'keep your sausage to yourself'.
