Jacques Denver and Agnes Lisle, a couple of St Lucian heritage, are accused of abducting their son Ashley from the care of the local authority. Ashley had been taken into care and sent to a residential school for children with learning difficulties. The Defence case is that Denver and Lisle thought that Ashley was in danger of psychological harm and that the decision to take him into care was affected by unfair intelligence testing which ignored his background as a patois speaker.
